Depending on the activity, our lawful basis may include performance of a contract with you, compliance with a legal obligation, your consent, protection of vital interests, or another lawful basis recognised by applicable data-protection law. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it where the law permits. Withdrawal does not make processing that occurred before withdrawal unlawful.

5. Matching, recommendations, and automated processing

The Platform may use profile information and activity signals to provide matching, discovery, ranking, recommendations, fraud prevention, or safety features. These processes are intended to operate the service and improve relevance. We will not represent that an automated match or recommendation is a statement about your worth, identity, character, or suitability. Where applicable law gives you rights concerning automated decision-making or profiling, you may exercise those rights through our privacy contact.

6. Photos, profiles, and user-visible information

Information you choose to place in your profile may be visible to other users according to the Platform's features and your settings. Do not publish information you do not want other users to see. We may process profile and communication data to provide the service, respond to reports, enforce our Terms, and protect users.

7. Messages and communications

Messages and communications are processed to provide chat functionality and may be retained for safety, moderation, security, support, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes where permitted or required. Do not assume that anything you send through the Platform is suitable for complete confidentiality. Do not send passwords, payment credentials, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary user chats.

8. Payments

When you buy Linkcoins, payment processing is handled through the payment provider selected by us, such as Paystack. We receive and retain payment-related information necessary to identify and reconcile the transaction, but ordinary card payment credentials are handled by the payment provider rather than stored as a full card number in our application database. Payment providers may independently process information under their own privacy notices and terms.

9. Sharing personal data

We may disclose personal data to service providers and processors that help us operate the Platform, such as hosting, infrastructure, communications, analytics, security, customer support, and payment providers. We may also disclose information where necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms, or protect our rights. We do not treat user profile information as a public directory outside the features of the Platform.

10. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will apply the safeguards and requirements applicable under Nigerian data-protection law and any other law that applies to the transfer.

11. Data retention

We retain personal data for no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, taking into account legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, and record-keeping requirements. Deleting an account does not necessarily mean that every record is immediately erased. Certain information may need to be retained for legal compliance, payment reconciliation, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

12. Your data-protection rights

Subject to applicable law and any lawful exceptions, you may have rights including:
  • to be informed about processing;
  • to access personal data;
  • to request correction of inaccurate data;
  • to request erasure in appropriate circumstances;
  • to object to certain processing;
  • to request restriction of processing in appropriate circumstances;
  • to request data portability where applicable;
  • to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
The Nigeria Data Protection Commission identifies these categories of rights under Sections 34–38 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

13. How to make a privacy request

Send your request to linkova.notify@gmail.com with enough information for us to understand and authenticate the request. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing, correcting, or deleting information, particularly where a request could affect another person's privacy or account security. We will handle valid requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal-data breach requiring notification under applicable law, we will take the required steps and notify affected parties or authorities where legally required.

15. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, session technologies, or similar mechanisms that are necessary for authentication, security, preferences, and service operation. Where non-essential technologies are used, we will provide choices or notices where required by applicable law.
